Autumn Layers

My favorite season of the year has finally arrived!

Autumn is the season for layering—a style that not only keeps you warm, but also makes your outfit more interesting.  The most important thing about learning to layer is getting a good handle on the basics... basics that will last long!

I recently went on a purge in my closet and came out with eight garbage bags full of clothes I was hoarding since I moved to Toronto 4 years ago. I have come to a realization that I used to aimlessly shop for pieces of clothing that were fitting to the occasion I originally bought it for but after, it just sat in my closet and collected dust… literally!

Over the years I learnt my lesson and finally understood that it’s worth investing in pieces that can be styled in many different ways. This is where my new purchase from Oak + Fort steps in.

My motto for layering is: Keep it Simple. Simplicity is the best while putting together an outfit, especially when it comes down to layering.

The long traditional blazer from Oak + Fort features two functional front pockets, a single buttoned front, and a tailored fit for a more formal look during the day and it can be dressed down with ripped denim and sneakers after-work.

My outfit

This getup is perfect for a casual day; being both stylish and warm. The simple ripped black denim and white t-shirt base layers are both breathable materials, making them suitable for you if you’re getting a little toasty after a long walk (this happens to me all the time).  The jacket is designed with a 63% polyester composition and trust me you won’t be catching a chill during an autumn breeze with that number. Lastly, I topped off my look with a ribbed and knit texture beanie and crisp white sneakers.

What I’m Wearing:

Oak + Fort Jacket 4122 in Black, Oak + Fort Hat 97027 in Black, Zadig & Voltaire Stockholm Chine White T-Shirt (similar) , H&M Black Denim (similar) , Zara White Retro Sneakers, Rag & Bone Tote Bag, Medium Intro Black & Gold Watch
